CIVIC & GOVERNANCE LAB

Bridging Governance Gaps

The Civic & Governance Lab bridges the gap between rural residents and local administration. It acts as a direct grievance redressal engine, collecting, digitizing, and escalating civic concerns while teaching young people to navigate the governance structures around them.

THE INTAKE

Generating Civic Evidence

The Lab does not wait for grievances to come to us; we actively gather them through three distinct channels:

  • Community Outreach: Our core team periodically visits target localities, actively documenting household-level civic issues directly from the residents.

  • Targeted Issue Surveys: We deploy specific, localized surveys to map out pressing infrastructure challenges, such as water access and waste disposal bottlenecks.

  • Civic Literacy Workshops: We conduct governance workshops in local schools to educate students on their rights, duties, and local civic structures. These sessions empower young students to understand how systems work and provide a safe space for them to formally voice and submit their own community concerns.

THE PROCESS

Digitization and Escalation

Once the raw data is collected, the Lab operates as a structured processing and accountability hub:

  • Digitization & Sorting: Every single grievance collected from the field and schools is digitized, categorized by issue type, and formatted into actionable data.

  • Departmental Escalation: We draft and send official grievance reports directly to the respective government departments and local bodies responsible for resolving them.

  • Ground Verification: Our work does not end when an email or letter is sent. We physically return to the localities to verify whether the escalating grievance has actually been addressed by the authorities.

THE DASHBOARD

Tracking Real-Time Accountability

The ultimate goal of the Lab is to create a transparent platform for rural voices. We are currently compiling our first comprehensive district-level report, which will synthesize all collected data for the district administration.

Below is our Active Grievance Dashboard. Reflecting input from over 200 participants to date, this live tracker documents the specific civic issues we have logged, the departments they have been escalated to, and their current resolution status on the ground.
